the praying mantis

The praying mantis is a strictly protected species in Austria. It needs a warm climate and, above all, an intact environment to survive and prosper. Therefore, it is a perfect ambassador of our strong sense of responsibility towards nature.

Due to its bizarre appearance, people have treated this insect with awe, respect and superstition since time immemorial.

The scientific name ‘Mantis’ is of Greek origin and means fortune teller, prophet or the divine.

Our wine called ‘Mantis Religiosa’ is a blend of the two grape varieties of Chardonnay and Neuburger.
